Chess Captor DEMO version 2.21 Copyright (C) 1996-1999 Michiel Magnee All Rights Reserved URL: http://www.migmag.pair.com/captor/ *** Installation *** To install Chess Captor from the distribution disk, please do the following: a. if you are not running Windows, please startup Windows. b. insert the installation disk into your disk drive c. choose Run from the Start menu, type a:\ccap221d and press the Enter key. The Setup program will issue a number of prompts. Unless you have a reason to override the defaults it is recommended that you accept the installation default settings (just press Install or OK as appropriate). The installation program will by default install Chess Captor 2.21 into a directory named "Captor" under the program files folder. If you like, you can install Chess Captor to a different location. The installation program will also create a folder named "Chess Captor" on Windows' start menu with short cuts to the main program and some of its related files. If you already have an older version of Chess Captor installed on your system I recommend to either uninstall it first or make sure that it is in a different directory then where you will install version 2.21. If you have downloaded Chess Captor from the internet or obtained it via other channels the installation procedure is similar to when installing from the distribution disk. Please make sure that you instead of typing a:\ccap221d type the full path to the file (eg d:\internet\download\ccap221d). The file can have different names like eg. ccaptor.exe, ccap221d.exe or ccap221.exe. If you are unsure about the origin of the installation file I recommend that you download the latest demo version directly from the downloading page on the Chess Captor Home Page or to contact me first. *** Upgrade Instructions *** Follow the installation instructions above. You can install this version of Chess Captor into the same location as a previously installed version of Chess Captor, however, it is recommended that you uninstall the older version first. Another option would be to install Chess Captor into another directory, keeping both versions installed on the same computer. *** Requirements *** Chess Captor is 32-bit software. This mean that it will only run on Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0 or newer versions. Chess Captor does not require any other programs or dlls than those that come with the installation. Both Windows and Chess Captor require a video card and monitor capable of rendering 256 colors. Using Chess Captor on a system without a mouse will not let you use all of Chess Captor's features. Although not required; Chess Captor works best on a computer with a soundcard and speakers. *** Documentation *** For full documentation, including context sensitive help, press the F1 key or Help button at any time while running Chess Captor. *** List Of Files *** The Chess Captor 2.21 DEMO package consists of the following files: BIRDIE.WAV sound file CAMRA2.WAV sound file CAPTOR.CNT help contents file CAPTOR.GID help index file CAPTOR.EXE required executable CAPTOR.HLP help documentation CC-CLN22.EXE registry cleanup utility CHIRT.WAV sound file DEFAULT.CCD startup diagram layout ECM.EPD sample EPD file HIT.WAV sound file KASKRAM.PGN sample PGN file LICENSE.TXT license agreement/warranty README.TXT introductory information SFIT2.WAV sound file TICK.WAV sound file VENDOR.TXT information for Shareware Distributors and Disk Vendors WOW.WAV sound file If you did not receive all these files please contact me via email on migmag@pair.com or download the installation program from http://www.migmag.pair.com/captor/
